Missions...have always been an important part of the life of our congregation. St. Stephen UMC desires to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by reaching out in love and concern to our community and our world.

Lunches for the Arlington Life Shelter

The 1st Monday of each month, members gather to prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and assemble sack lunches for resident of the Arlington Life Shelter.

Advocates for Special People

Five days a week, we host the Advocates for Special People, who meet in our Family Life Center and Fellowship Classroom. This organization provides a safe and enriching day program for special needs adults.

Youth Mission Trips

Each year, our congregation sends youth and adults on Jr. and Sr. High mission trips. Students engage in hands-on mission, building relationships and providing assistance for those in need.

Arlington Urban Ministries

Members of our church volunteer at the New 2 U Resale Shop, which provides funds for Arlingotn Urban Ministries. Our communion offering also goes to help support this vital ministry in Arlington.

Shampoo/Cereal/Food Pantry Collection

Members regularly provide shampoo and cereal for Arlington Life Shelter and Safe Haven. Our church also stocks a small food pantry for the community.

Coins for Change

Our youth encourage us to donate our spare change to the "Coins for Change" bottle every Sunday morning. Their goal is to donate $10,000 to Heifer International and $10,000 to Imagine No Malaria.

St. Stephen provides many opportunities for you to donate time, money, food, clothing and many other necessities for our very local needs.

Mission Lunches: The crew meets on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the SSUMC kitchen. A complete crew consists of 5-6 people willing to join an assembly line process that produces 80 sack lunches in 45 minutes or less. There are now permanent plastic tubs for transporting lunches, eliminating the scramble for cardboard boxes. The mission can use some help beyond the physical. Dona-tions of large jars or peanut butter and jelly, individually wrapped snacks (like Little Debbie’s), sturdy brown lunch sacks, Ziploc sandwich bags, and 16 oz bottles of wa-ter are needed!

Arlington Urban Ministries is a ministry of the Arlington area United Methodist Ministries. St. Stephen's goal is to support them financially with designated donations along with altar rail donations. There are volunteers for the Tarrant Area Food Bank held on the first Wednesday of the month where plastic bags and workers are needed. Another great way to support Arlington Urban Ministries is to shop and donate to Nu2U Resale Shop; all proceeds support the mission. They can be reached at 817-861-8585.

Arlington Life Shelter provides a safe place to sleep, eat, wash clothes, and clean up. St. Stephen helps furnish pantry items along with laundry materials. Always needed are disposable drink cups, drink mixes, sugar packets, salt and pepper packets, napkins, plastic spoons and forks. At this time we are concentrating on laundry supplies; detergent, bleach and softener. Really welcome are twin sized bed linens, towels, and wash cloths. Bed linens are done for 80-100 people every week. Volunteers are needed to work one to four hours on Friday mornings to wash and fold.  They can be reached at 817-548-9885.

Arlington Charities, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded to feed the hungry, and clothe the poor. Arlington Charities served 50,000 people in 2012.
They need and welcome non-perishable food items from A to Z, hygiene items along as well as cleaning supplies. They can be reached at 817-861-8585
In addition, St. Stephen supports the Layette Ministry with handmade baby blankets, baby hygiene items and gently used clothes size 0-6 months. Please contact the church office for more information.
